JemmaPage published The X Factor Live Tour 2016, Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham: Review...
I'm going to throw it out there – the last series of the X Factor was the best one yet. I loved the line-up of the judging panel, the presenters and the talent was absolutely outstanding and very varied. Eight of the acts took to the Motorpoint Arena's stage on Sunday night and showcased some of their best performances from the show. The 10,000-capacity arena was packed out with fans of all ages who had come to see the 2015 finalists belt their hearts out live onstage. Reggie and... -

Corey Neilson praised the "honour" of his Nottingham Panthers team after they delivered a sixth Challenge Cup in seven years.Evan Mosey's overtime winner earned them a 1-0 win after they dominated much of the game against their fellow Elite League title chasers at the Sheffield Arena."The guys played with honour. It's something I've been preaching," he said."It's a word I've used for a while. It's something I want to see. It's part of the Panthers' brand."Too many... -
Nottingham Post published Ipswich Town 1 Nottingham Forest 0: Match analysis: Reds ...
Brusk, blunt and to the point, if there is one manager in football who stoically shuns clichés and truisms, it is Mick McCarthy. While he may have played for and managed Ireland, McCarthy is a Yorkshireman to the core. His Barnsley roots shine through. He calls a spade a spade, rather than a soil transportation facilitation device. Amid a period where his Ipswich side have come under sustained fire for their style of play, which reflects the direct, no nonsense attitude of their... -

Nottingham Panthers won a sixth Challenge Cup in seven years as Evan Mosey scored an overtime winner to beat Cardiff Devils 1-0 at the Sheffield Arena. Mosey scored with 4.26 to go of 20 minutes of sudden death overtime after it finished 0-0 in regulation time. An energy sapping final felt like it may never end as Corey Neilson's men dominated but could not score with Devils' goaltender Ben Bowns standing tall. NottmPostEG published Rudimental, We The Generation Tour, Rock City, Nottingham
Rudimental's gig at Rock City to promote their new album, We The Generation, was sold out some time ago, and on last night's performance if they were to come back, there would be a queue around the block for tickets. There are four people in this Hackney bred drum 'n' bass contingent, but they don't make a big deal of pushing themselves to the front of the stage. Instead their live sound is made up of a large number of musicians who come and go as they need to, each contributing to a high energy. -

When you're the former frontman of a boyband that has had over fifteen UK number one singles, there's always one big question - do ya play all the hits from your previous career, or do you focus solely on your solo stuff. Thankfully, Shane Filan answered this question the correct way - by playing a ton of his hits, sprinkled with new material every few songs. Shane kicked off the evening with his ridiculously catchy solo single Everything to Me, before diving into former Westlife hit What... -

It's good to see Dougie Freedman keep giving young players a chance for Nottingham Forest. Deimantas Petravicius came on for his debut at Ipswich Town and Jorge Grant also came on off the bench. All these young lads have got a lot still to learn. But they will do that by playing in a man's game, where players will come out and hurt you. NottmPostEG published Field Music, Rescue Rooms, Nottingham, review
For such an artful bunch, Field Music do their best to pass unnoticed. Their brilliant 2010 double album, Measure, politely lit up that year's end-of-year best-of lists. It's taken until this year, with the transcendent Commontime, for the band to surpass it. The group is based around brothers Peter and David Brewis, who spend the evening swapping lead vocal, guitar and drum duties - at one point, rather spectacularly, during the same song - but the music, fleshed out by keyboard player and... -
NottmPostEG published Pianist Jayson Gillham, Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham: review
Lots of smiles and warm applause greeted the end of Sunday morning's recital by young Australian pianist Jayson Gillham. And it wasn't simply a case of the audience liking his dazzling performance of a wide-ranging and demanding programme. They also liked him.His technique may have been formidable, but his easy, friendly manner - together with his calm, unshowy keyboard style - immediately endeared him to his listeners. Gillham began his programme with Handel's Harmonious Blacksmith Suite, the.. -
NottmPostEG published The Rifles at Rock City, Nottingham, review, setlist and photos
The Rifles have spent the last 12 years touring the country, plugging away from the mainstream radar and accumulating a core fan-base in the process – The Chingford five-piece have become a cult band for blokes of all ages. Rock City's balcony is closed, the Main Hall by no means full, but the atmosphere remains electric; the weekend mods are out in force with many of the male-dominated crowd – ranging from lads in their late teens to their 50s – sporting Paul Weller... -
Nottingham Post commented Nottingham Forest fan view: Adam O'Keeffe: I feel Dougie Freedman...
Leaving Saturday's game, I was left feeling Dougie Freedman is a defeat away from the axe. It's ok making us hard to beat but we do have to score goals and win games. For me, we have not progressed this season and I find it difficult to defend Dougie for any other reason than stability. The weather was as miserable as most of the Forest fans that left Portman Road. We created some great early chances and if it wasn't for the Ipswich keeper we could have been going into half-time at least... -

Nottingham Post published Notts County 0 Bristol Rovers 2: Match analysis: No pot of goals...
It was during the course of the second half when a rainbow emerged over Meadow Lane, and you were left wondering who would have fought hardest to claim the mythical pot of gold. Would it have been the owner Ray Trew, who has put the club up for sale having stood down as chairman because of abuse directed towards his family? Or would it be the supporters, who insist they are being short-changed by managerial appointments and are angry at their club's decline? Perhaps it would have been the... -
Nottingham Post published Nottingham Forest 'a good side', says Ipswich manager Mick...
Mick McCarthy admitted Ipswich rode their luck against Nottingham Forest – conceding the Reds had been the superior team in the first half. Nelson Oliveira was twice denied by superb saves and Matt Mills was thwarted by the crossbar. But the Town boss felt his side bounced back well after the break and was left to call for people to retain level heads as they continue their push for a top six finish, after Ben Pringle's goal secured a narrow 1-0 win. "They were better than us in... -

The unbeaten run Nottingham Forest went on papered over the cracks a bit. We still couldn't score a lot of goals even then. We are just not that good a team. This team is not good enough to get promoted. I know that's what supporters are looking for but we just cannot go for that at the moment. The way the club is being run, with everything that goes on off the field, doesn't help. So to be getting on the manager's back and calling for him to be sacked after four straight defeats, as... -

Dougie Freedman says Nottingham Forest will have to revert back to being hard to beat, if they do not start converting their chances. The Reds boss sent out his side with a more attacking outlook at Ipswich – and they responded by carving out a host of opportunities at Portman Road. Nottingham Post published Notts County 'trying to correct' lack of goals, says under-fire...
Jamie Fullarton says Notts County will continue working on becoming more of a goal threat, after they went four games at Meadow Lane without a goal. Bristol Rovers sealed a 2-0 win on Saturday as Notts fell behind to a Cristiano Montano goal before seeing Lee Brown double the lead after half-time. Notts tried desperately to get back into the game, with Izale McLeod having a header saved by Steve Mildenhall. It means Notts are still without a goal at Meadow Lane in 360 minutes of football... -
