Nottingham Post published 10 things to improve Nottingham: More outdoor dining and expand...
Nottingham Post photographer Mark Lee suggests a few ways to spruce up the county.1. Robin Hood is the city's (and county's) most famous son. Since the Tales of Robin Hood shut down in Maid Marion Way, nothing really has been done improve the promotion and the 'brand' of the man in tights. I have spoken to many visitors to the area over the years who all say the same thing – that there is precious little attraction in the city to see. A statue outside the castle, but then the visitors... -

JonPritchard published Christmas is over - but Nottingham stores gearing up for Easter...
Christmas may be over – but shops and supermarkets are already gearing up for the next big celebration. Easter eggs and other seasonal chocolate goodies are already on the shelves at many stores, as retail giants look to make the most of the event. Some shops are also gearing up for Valentine's Day, despite it being almost six weeks away. And Nottingham's shoppers were not impressed with the early promotions. Amanda Turnbull, 44, from Woodborough, said: "Without a doubt, the... -

Nottingham Post published Curtis Thompson says 'heads dropped' after Oxford United...
Curtis Thompson says Oxford United's second goal was the turning point in Notts County's 4-2 defeat at Meadow Lane. The managerless Pies had overturned Liam Sercombe's penalty on the stroke of half-time through goals from Jon Stead and Thompson. But Oxford equalised just three minutes after Thompson made it 2-1 through Alex MacDonald, before late goals from Callum O'Dowda and Kemar Roofe sealed the win. And Thompson, who scored his second goal of the season, felt the critical moment was... -
Nottingham Post published It's 'incredible' to be back playing for Nottingham Forest, says...
Amid a frustrating, grindingly disappointing afternoon at The Valley, Nottingham Forest fans at least had one thing to raise their spirits as they trudged back to their cars or to the train station in the rain. And for Chris Cohen, he finally had a positive moment to hold on to, as a reward for 15 months of hard work and uncertainty. The packed away end in the capital raised their voices as one to greet the Nottingham Forest skipper when he warmed up before the game, when he ran up and down... -
Nottingham Post published Charlton 1 Nottingham Forest 1: Match analysis: Unbeaten Reds...
Expectation has never been in short supply at Nottingham Forest. The burden of it has weighed heavy on the shoulders of many a manager. It has broken a few of them. And, as his players trudged off the pitch at the final whistle at The Valley, Dougie Freedman will have been offered a clear, stark reminder of the demands that come with being the man in charge of this particular fallen giant. "Attack, attack, attack" bellowed many among the impressive gathering of away fans in the... -
Nottingham Post published Richard Dryden left 'deeply hurt' as Notts County let in four in...
Having only been appointed caretaker managers lastTuesday, it has been a challenging week for the experienced duo of Richard Dryden and Mick Halsall. With their jobs still to take care of Notts County'syouth set-up, they've also had to try to tighten up the first-team'sdefence, which has conceded two or more goals a game since the end of October. They have only had a short time to work with the players after Ricardo Moniz's departure and with the best will in the world, it isn't long... -
Nottingham Post published Non-league football: Law full of praise for Alfreton Town as they...
The region's non-league fixture list was decimated by heavy rain at the weekend. Only a handful of games went ahead with Alfreton Town continuing their resurgence in National League North. Alfreton manager Nicky Law had praise for his side for coming out of three tough festive fixtures in seven days with seven points after a 1-0 home win over Tamworth on Saturday. "It was always going to be a difficult game. We knew Tamworth would come and make it difficult for us," said... -
Nottingham Post published Michael Appleton always believed Oxford would avoid defeat to...
Michael Appleton saluted a glorious late double for Oxford as they maintained their ruthless promotion charge with a stunning victory at managerless Notts County. The Us looked to have blown their chances at Meadow Lane when goals from Jon Stead (pictured) and Curtis Thompson overturned Liam Sercombe's penalty. But that was the cue for a stunning fightback by United, who equalised through Alex MacDonald before stunners from Callum O'Dowda and Kemar Roofe in the 90th minute sealed the... -
Nottingham Post commented Notts County 2 Oxford 4: Match analysis: Magpies' same old...
When Kemar Roofe's sumptuous late finish maintained Oxford United's ruthless charge towards promotion, Ray Trew would have looked on with a fair degree of envy. These are the afternoons Notts County's owner envisaged in the summer when he delved into his reservoir of cash to back what he thought would be a quick return to League One. But his impressive level of investment has not brought reward on the pitch and it is the reason why he is looking for yet another manager at Meadow... -
Nottingham Post commented Nottingham Forest fan view: Dan Watts: I'd never boo my club off...
I must say, I'm a very frustrated fan after going to the Charlton v Nottingham Forest game. I never expected an easy game at Charlton, with them fighting against relegation. Forest started off slowly and Charlton were on the front foot. It took Forest a while to get going but they looked dangerous going forward. It was a good goal by Ben Osborn. Forest looked disappointing in some aspects, but got in at half-time 1-0 up. Then the second half started and Forest had a good chance within... -
Nottingham Post commented Kenny Burns column: Draw at Charlton a good result for Nottingham...
There has been a bit of negativity from some fans about Nottingham Forest picking up too many draws recently. But we're not a team of Des Walkers, Stuart Pearces and John Robertsons. We're not those teams any more. We're a team now of Henri Lansbury, Matt Mills, Jack Hobbs, David Vaughan; that's the team we are at the moment. I think you have to be happy with picking up a point away from home. Teams will expect to win on their own ground – and they will win more games there than... -

Nottingham Post published Kenny Burns column: Brilliant to see Chris Cohen back for...
It was brilliant to see Chris Cohen back for Nottingham Forest at Charlton Athletic. I was delighted for the boy. And I would think he'll be on the bench again against QPR in the FA Cup this weekend. I'm sure he'll come on for 15 or 20 minutes and get another great reception at the City Ground. It was great to see him back. He's one of the four musketeers who we've been missing for a long time through injury, along with Matty Fryatt, Britt Assombalonga and Andy Reid. Cohen was the... -

Nottingham Post published Charlton boss Karel Fraeye praises players after fightback...
Charlton boss Karel Fraeye praised his side's character, as they fought back to claim a point against Nottingham Forest. There was a strange atmosphere at The Valley as the home fans staged protests over the running of the club. And the frustration in the stands was only added to, after seeing Ben Osborn put the Reds into a first half lead. But Forest failed to perform to their best in the second half, with Simon Makienok plundering an equaliser. "We went for it until the last... -
