Nottinghamshire popstar Jay McGuiness is now the bookies' favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing after sailing through another round. The Wanted star, who grew up in Newark, remained in the competition last night and is now one of the final 10 contestants. He once again impressed judges the previous evening in the Hallowe'en-themed show with his spooky routine, in which he lifted dance partner Aliona Vilani for the first time. Nottingham Post commented Nottingham Forest will turn form around if they persevere, says...
On Tuesday night, Nottingham Forest's simple challenge is to find a way to secure a victory that would end a run of seven games without a win, while also taking some of the pressure off Dougie Freedman.Following a lacklustre display in a 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and with little chance of seeing the chronic injury list reduced significantly in the near future, confidence may be in short supply. But Freedman believes it is a different quality needed by Forest as they head to Preston... -

But mum Vicki Wood is managing to juggle bringing up her three-year old triplets with achieving qualifications, after returning to the classroom. Arsenal Ladies claimed their fourth Continental Tyres Cup title in five years with a controversial 3-0 victory over Notts County Ladies, who suffered major final heartbreak for the second time in three months. There was a wonderful moment in the aftermath of Alan Sheehan's winner when the Notts County manager Ricardo Moniz found himself submerged by his players. Once he was allowed to escape a screaming mound of black and white, the first thing he did was run his hands through his hair to make sure it was all in place. Nottingham Post commented Kenny Burns column: Even Jose Mourinho could not stop Nottingham...
I am like everyone else; I'm concerned Nottingham Forest are falling down the table very, very quickly. Teams above us are getting further away and teams below us are getting closer. We are four points above the relegation zone. You don't want to be in a relegation battle. And I think we are in danger of getting into one. If you are not winning games then you have to be worried about that. We've not really won a game comfortably for a long time. We have got problems. But it's not the... -
Nottingham Post commented Kenny Burns column: I would like to see Dimitar Evtimov play next...
Dimitar Evtimov made a mistake against Sheffield Wednesday. He should have saved that shot from Fernando Forestieri. But I wouldn't look into it too much. He's a young boy, he came in to make his full Nottingham Forest debut and made a mistake. But he's not the only one to do that. Anyone who goes on the pitch and says they've never made a mistake is a liar. Everyone makes mistakes. It's just that with goalkeepers it gets highlighted a bit more. I would like to see him play the next game,... -

Saturday's trip to Sheffield Wednesday brought with it the same old story, as Forest's struggle for form and goals goes on. The team-sheet brought a surprise, with young goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov being handed a full debut following an injury to Dorus de Vries. And Evtimov did very well in the first half, making a couple of smart saves. It was also welcome to see a goalkeeper coming off his line to claim set-pieces and crosses – something I feel defensively has caused us problems when... -

Nottinghamshire were represented by three players on day one of the third Test between England and Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. And two of them were in the wickets as England bowled out the hosts for 234 despite losing the toss, ending themselves on four for nought at the end of play. Alan Sheehan said Notts County produced a "man's performance" as they came from behind to beat high-flying Portsmouth. The visitors had taken the lead in the 19th minute through Caolan Lavery. But Notts were back level three minutes later when Graham Burke curled in a stunning volley. Sheehan (pictured) then grabbed the winner in the 77th minute when his free-kick crept in from 60 yards. The result stretched the Magpies' unbeaten run to four games and Sheehan was thrilled with... -
