NottmPostEG published Richard Thompson Trio, Royal Concert Hall: review and photos
He's our greatest living guitarist, yet it's easy to take Richard Thompson for granted. He tours most years and puts out strong albums just as frequently. New one, Still, has a title that mocks this consistency. The audience arrives never knowing quite what to expect.

Following its successful run at the same venue two years back 1984 returns to the Playhouse. It's the same production, with a lot of the same actors, but, one understands, some tactical adjustments here and there.Protagonist Winston Smith this time is played by a well-cast Matthew Spencer. Balding and slight, he captures perfectly a down-trodden, powerless man almost overwhelmed in a totalitarian state. Almost that is, because Spencer uses his eyes to suggest that Smith still hasn't had his... -
