A Newthorpe man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.Matthew Scrimshaw, 36, of Halls Lane, was charged on Friday in connection with a fatal collision in which 68-year-old Iris Higginson died.The incident took place in Mansfield Road, Eastwood on December 9 last year.The crash involved Scrimshaw's blue Audi TT and a black Vauxhall Corsa being driven by Ms Higginson, of Brinsley, who was pronounced dead at the scene.Scrimshaw is also charged with causing serious injury to one.. -

NOTTINGHAM teenager Ellie Downie has become the first British female to win an all around medal at a major championship.
The 15-year-old took bronze at the European Championship during her senior debut for Great Britain.
Downie scored 56.623 across four apparatus to hold off the challenge of Erika Fasana, the Italian scoring 56.474.
The Notts Gymnastics Academy star scored 14.833 on vault, 14.233 on bars, 13.891 on beam and 13.666 on floor for her second personal best in Montpellier.
