Nottingham Panthers saw their title hopes suffer a blow as they lost 4-2 to Sheffield Steelers at the Motorpoint Arena.
The absence of key defencemen Colby Cohen, Steve Lee and Cody Wild left a major hole in the Panthers line-up and they were unable to make up for that as the Steelers went some way to avenging three straight defeats to their rivals.
The game was punctuated by a flurry of soft penalties and Nottingham took the lead on their second power play, which lacked fluency with the above..
