• Firefighters spend three hours tackling fire in South Croydon...

  A fire in a block of flats in South Croydon this afternoon (Thursday August 17) has left one flat "80 per cent damaged". Emergency services attended the fire in a four-bedroom first floor flat in Columbine Avenue, off Pampisford Road, for more than three hours to put out the blaze.
  Sixteen firefighters from Croydon, Purley and Woodside fire stations attended from 4.55pm while Metropolitan Police officers closed the road from 5.10pm for about three hours.
