  An amateur cyclist from a Croydon cycling club has died in a crash during a race in France. Ian Bashford, 61, died when he was hit by a car during the 35th Duo Normand race. Police are said to be investigating why the car, which was a support vehicle in the race, had swerved into his path 200 metres from the finish line.
