  The daughter of a man left with bleeding to his brain after challenging a group of people who stole sweets from a Croydon shop says she is proud he 'did the right thing'. The 56-year-old suffered serious injuries after being set upon outside Sweet Shop in High Street, Croydon, shortly after 6am on Tuesday. The man, who was on his way to work at the time, was taken to St George's Hospital, in Tooting, where he has been treated for bleeding to the brain and broken ribs. Chantel Williams, 20, said.
