  A MAN suffered 'serious burns' in a suspected gas explosion in Selhurst today.Fire crews were called to Holmesdale Road at 11.30am after an explosion damaged several flats.It is believed the blast happened when the occupier lit a cigarette near an oven that had a gas leak behind it.   A TWO car collision partly closed Purley Way causing heavy traffic this afternoon. Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the crash at 1.15pm at the junction of Imperial Way. The road was close southbound as London Fire Brigade assisting in moving the vehicles from the junction. A single lane closure was still in place just before 4pm. There were no injuries and no arrests were made, said a Metropolitan Police spokesman.

  EMERGENCY services are dealing with a 'serious' collision in Thornton Heath. Melfort Road has been closed and police have advised people to avoid the area. Croydon MPS tweeted: "Melfort Road closed due to a serious road traffic collision. Please avoid the area for some time."
