  A CROYDON teenager is to stand trial accused of allegedly attempting to harm a police special constable in the town centre.Dominic Anning, 19, was Tasered and arrested in Katharine Street on February 26.He was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm on a police officer.Anning, of Erica Gardens, Shirley, pleaded not guilty to the charge at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday.He was granted conditional bail and is due to stand trial on week beginning August 15.

  AN Old Coulsdon man has been jailed for attempting to smuggle £400,000 worth of cocaine into the UK.Paul Steadman, 45, was driving a Mercedes car when he was stopped by Border Force officers at Dover's Eastern Docks in the early hours of January 23.When questioned by officers, Steadman, of Ellis Road, said he had been to Dunkirk for the day to look at a property.Officers then searched the vehicle and using a camera scope were able to see a green and orange plastic bag behind the rear seat.
