  Fire crews battled a blaze at a block of flats in London Road on Saturday morning.Crews were called out at 9.53am to find smoke and flames coming from a studio flat on the second floor.No-one was injured in the blaze, which destroyed 40 per cent of the flat, according a London Fire Brigade spokesman.Fire brigade and police are still on the scene.It is not yet clear how the fire started, but a Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed it was not suspicious.

  A SHIRLEY family raised more than £3,000 for charity by covering their home in Christmas lights.Rosie Pound and her family live in one of the homes lighting up Pinewood Close every December. The Poundsraised £3,210 for Dreams Come True, which helps children with severe or life-limiting conditions, and presented the cash to the charity last week.
