  TEACHERS in Croydon are to be provided with training by specialist gang crime police officers after an alarming increase in the number of pupils bringing weapons into school. Possession of an offensive weapon was the most common reason for permanent exclusions in Croydon in the 2014/15 academic year. Overall there were 24 permanent exclusions from maintained schools, academies and free schools, up from 13 the previous year.Five of those pupils were permanently removed from school for possession.
