    The V&A Museum’s large round fashion gallery is closing next month ahead of a year-long refurbishment project for the space.

    The fashion gallery, in room 40, is one of the largest and most distinctive spaces within the museum. It opened in 1909 as a large octagonal space. However, in 1962, a large circular gallery was slotted into the middle of the room to house the musical instruments collection.

    There could be more competition on the railways between London and mainland Europe sooner than expected after the railway regulator issued a significant update.
    The issue had been where to store all the extra trains and carry out maintenance on them. The prospective train companies want to be allowed to use Eurostar’s Temple Mills depot in east London, but Eurostar had argued there wasn’t enough space for them.
