    A massive 178-tonne transformer rolls through South London on Sunday
    Look out for a huge 178-tonne electricity transformer on a special lorry being driven through south London on Sunday.

    The transformer, the first of two that are needed, is being delivered to a substation near Brixton as part of the National Grid’s £1 billion London Power Tunnels 2 project to reinforce the capital’s electricity network. The transformers will be delivered to the Port of Tilbury and then driven by haulage experts

    A woven tube roundel to celebrate the new Weaver Overground line
    A patchwork woven “tube roundel” has appeared at a London Overground station to mark the renaming of that part of the Overground as the Weaver Line.

    Now in place above the stairs at Hackney Downs station, the woven roundel was created by local weavers. Each produced a small patch of fabric, which was then stitched together to form the patchwork roundel.

    Passengers on the London Overground Mildmay line, which runs between Stratford and Richmond/Clapham Junction, are being asked to check for closures on part of the route over upcoming weekends.

    Curtain rises on NEON – Battersea’s new immersive experience centre
    A new exhibition and events building next to Battersea Power Station will open in a few months time, offering a large open box for “immersive experiences”.

    Large donation towards a new QEII garden in Regents Park
    A new garden being created in Regent’s Park to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s life and legacy has received a £450,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
    The Royal Parks charity, which manages London’s eight Royal parks, is currently working on transforming a disused plant nursery into a biodiverse and climate-resilient garden that everyone can enjoy for years to come.
    The funds from the Foundation will support the construction of the new free-to-visit garden.
