    Sign language assistance coming to the London Overground
    London Overground passengers with hearing loss will be able to access sign-language assistance in a trial by Arriva Rail London (ARL), which runs the Overground service.

    The trial is in collaboration with GoMedia, a subsidiary of Icomera. It translates text-based travel information into British Sign Language (BSL) and transmits it directly to the user through their smartphone via a personalised digital sign language avatar.

    There’s a bit of a mystery in Dr Johnson’s house at the moment, as a small writing desk has arrived that might have been the one used by Dr Johnson when compiling his famous dictionary.
    Or it might not.The writer’s desk was put up for sale in 1855 when two impoverished sisters, one of whom had been Dr Johnson’s goddaughter, announced that they needed to sell it. That sparked a celebrity-backed fundraising campaign, including support from Charles Dickens and Thomas Carlyle

    Last year, a giant metal squiggle appeared in central London, and it also happens to be a modern version of the classic knight-on-horse martial sculpture you would find dotted all across the country.The squiggle is by the UK sculptor Nick Hornby, and only looks like a squiggle from front or rear — if you look at the sculpture from the sides, then it’s a knight on a horse.

    Elizabeth line now has 4G and 5G coverage within the tunnels
    Shortly after the Elizabeth line stations gained phone coverage underground, the tunnels between stations now also have 4G and 5G phone coverage, letting people check the football or general election results while on their journey. Or tweet about it.
