Ericsson and Kcell plan 5G rollout in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan’s largest operator Kcell has drafted in Ericsson for a seven year partnership to deploy 5G across the country.
The partnership envisions a roadmap spanning 2023 to 2030, and will see Ericsson deploy 5G equipment over at least 50% of Kazakhstan’s territory, including key regions such as Almaty and Shymkent
The firms have opted for a single RAN approach for the deployment, which involves the integration of 5G into the existing 2G, 3G and 4G infrastructure, which is supp -
Qualcomm and AWS collaborate to develop the software defined vehicle
US giants Qualcomm and AWS reckon they can use their collective might to expedite the process of making vehicles umbilically connected to the cloud.
The partnership was announced at the IAA Mobility trade show, from where Qualcomm managed a staggering total of six distinct press releases today. Software is an increasingly central part of the automotive proposition and thus also a commercial differentiator. Accordingly vehicle makers want to have as much control over the software development and -

via ianvisits.co.uk
A shop on Carnaby Street has been covered with dayglo lettering in a new art installation by the artist Kris Andrew Small. The Sydney based artist creates abstract, energetic and flamboyant pieces using photo-based collage, texture and typography – so the old shop has been filled with big bold lettering and messages. The walls, the floors, but not the ceiling, are an explosion of textual colour.
We’re told that the installation is ” centred around the message of ‘Be Human& -

via ianvisits.co.uk
A labyrinth will be installed inside St. Paul’s Cathedral right under the dome in October, and you are invited to walk along its path to the heart of the Labyrinth.
(c) St Paul’s Cathedral
Labyrinths, minotaurs and David Bowie excepted, are also tools of religious and mindfulness, with labyrinths created as turf mazes at a number of Cathedrals. Walking the path was said to be an allusion to following a pilgrim’s passage to the Holy Land.

Vodafone signs satellite coverage deal with Project Kuiper
Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite (LEO) venture Project Kuiper has been drafted in by Vodafone and Vodacom to extend the reach of 4G and 5G services in Europe and Africa.
The LEO satellites will be utilised to hook up areas that ‘may otherwise be challenging and prohibitively expensive’ to get to via traditional fibre or microwave solutions – as is the most common use case for LEO deployments.
As part of the job, Project Kuiper will connect geographically dispersed cellu -

The Mayor of London has indicated his support for a southern rail link to Heathrow Airport and suggested that there could be progress on getting something started.
(c) HSRL
Although Heathrow is very accessible by rail from the north and the east, plans to improve rail access from the west were put on hold due to the pandemic, and plans to improve access from the south have been talked about for several decades.
It currently takes around 2 hours to reach Heathrow by rail from Guildford, or 45 min -
Tate Modern reopens its 10th floor viewing gallery
via ianvisits.co.uk
The unexpectedly controversial viewing platform on the 10th floor of the Tate Modern has reopened to the public, more than three years after it had to close. The impetus for the closure was the pandemic, but what kept it closed was a long running and highly controversial court case brought against the Tate by the owners of the flats behind the art gallery.
They argued that people being able to look into their homes was an invasion of privacy, and while I am sympathetic to their plight, the viewin
