• The Golden Letter of Alaungpaya to go on display at the British Museum

  A golden letter sent from Burma to Britain, studded with rubies will go on display later this year as part of an exhibition looking at the long history of the two countries.
  The letter, on a sheet of gold, was sent from Burma’s King Alaungpaya to Britain’s King George II in 1756, but the King not only ignored it, he sent it to his library in Hanover where it was forgotten. • Economic situation could hit fibre uptake – analyst

  As of today BT Sport is replaced with TNT Sports as a brand, following the completion of a joint venture between BT and Warner Bros Discovery.
  The two firms completed their transaction to create as single entity combining the assets of BT Sport and Eurosport UK in September last year.

• Elizabeth line passenger numbers beating forecasts

  Ahead of an Elizabeth line Committee meeting next week, Transport for London (TfL) says that the Elizabeth line is now beating post-pandemic passenger number forecasts. In its first full year of operation, the Elizabeth line carried just over 150 million passenger journeys, and although passenger demand is below pre-pandemic forecasts it’s above a range of post-pandemic projections.
