London is getting a new Museum — of Shakespeare
The site of what was probably William Shakespeare’s first theatre will open as a new museum dedicated to the playwright and the theatre.

The Theatre – for that was its name at a time when it was the only one – was originally discovered by archaeologists from Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) back in 2008, as they worked on a site near Shoreditch High Street that has been developed for housing.
The Theatre was built in 1576 when Shakespeare was only 12 years old, but
  • Smartphone market still struggling and India’s not helping

The global smartphone market is showing signs of stabilising, but it continued to shrink in the first quarter of this year, according to new analyst data.
And even newer analyst figures suggest that India was likely a contributor to the decline.
The number of smartphones shipped worldwide fell by 12% year-on-year in Q1 2023 with unit shipments coming in at well under 300 million, representing the fifth consecutive quarter of decline, Canalys reported on Tuesday.

Cargo bike delivery hub set up in Victoria
A last-mile cargo bike delivery hub has been opened in Pimlico in a trial to see if it reduces the number of vehicles on the local streets.
The logistics hub is an idea that’s gaining popularity, especially with the increase in home shopping that’s led to a rise in vehicles driving door to door to drop off parcels. The idea is that deliveries are taken by van to the hub, and then delivered to the destination in electric cargo bikes.

  • Study finds Ofcom complicit in UK landline customers being overcharged

UK comms regulator Ofcom forced BT to lower its standalone landline prices in 2018 but chose not to do the same for other landline providers.
Economic consultancy Fideres reckons that has resulted in people who have old-school landline-only deals, unsurprisingly mostly older people, being collectively over-charged millions of pounds. Back in 2017 Ofcom noticed BT (and its competitors) had been increasing its landline-only prices since 2009 and told it to revert to pre-2009 levels. It did so the

It did not explicitly state that the groups had submitted higher offers – in fact it did not provide much information at all, as has become the norm with this process – but clearly that is the case

Discover Seven Dials hidden Ching Court
Just down the road from busy Seven Dials in central London, there’s a remarkably quiet courtyard that, locals aside, hardly anyone seems to know exists. When you think how busy the area is, having a hidden oasis of tranquillity is remarkable. The triangular courtyard sits within a triangular development that’s a mix of restored Georgian houses and post-modern development that saw a once run-down area revamped in the early 1980s.
The road layout was laid out in the 1690s, and over the
