Now you can drink from a London Underground moquette mug
For London Transport fans, there’s now a range of coffee cups that come decorated with moquette patterns.
Not fabric covers for the cups, as that would be a tad difficult to clean, but patterns in the china.
There’s the Routemaster moquette and the RT/RF moquette for bus fans, and the District line and Victoria line moquettes for tube fans.
They’re being sold as a gift set for Christmas at £45 each, either in the London Transport Museum shop, or via their online store.Alt -
VMO2 and ITV renew their vows
A new commercial partnership between Virgin Media O2 and ITV apparently signifies a greater mutual commitment than ever.
You’ve always been able to get ITV on Virgin’s platform, of course, but this is all about on-demand streaming and advertising integration, it seems. The five-year deal includes the full integration of the ITV Hub platform onto Virgin TV set-top boxes, which will presumably make it easier to access and navigate.
In return VMO2 gets to use Planet V, which is describe -

Google has a mixed day in European courts
US internet giant Google has defended a class action suit in the UK but still has to hand over billions to the EU.
The separate matters happen to have concluded on the same day. In the UK, its Supreme Court took a third look at a class-action claim against Google’s alleged hoovering of user data from Apple’s Safari browser on iPhones a decade ago. The claim sought millions of pounds of damages on behalf of those users on the grounds that their data was misused.
The original ruling in -
Glowing roses to fill Grosvenor Square
This December, Grosvenor Square in central London will be illuminated with thousands of white roses, in memory of people who had had cancer.
Visitors will be invited to help raise funds for The Royal Marsden by purchasing a white rose from one of their chalets in Grosvenor Square for a suggested donation of £10 each, and the dedication is then added to the display.
All funds raised from sales of roses will be donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which supports the work of The Royal -
5G pacesetters twice as likely to grow ARPU, claims Ericsson
Ericsson’s ConsumerLab is doing its bit to drum up business with a report that draws lines between early 5G deployment and financial returns.
It’s called ‘5G Pacesetters’, and it defines four categories of 5G maturity. Telcos that are only just getting started fall into the 5G Explorers category. The next rung up from that is called 5G Potentials, and includes telcos that have decent 4G networks but have not got very far with their 5G offerings. Next up are 5G Aspirationa -
Orange unveils its very own OpenRAN lab
French operator group Orange is the latest telco to open a facility devoted to working out whether OpenRAN is a waste of time or not.
Earlier this year Vodafone unveiled a similar effort in the UK and the Orange one is, inevitably, in France, Orange Gardens in Châtillon to be precise. Of course Orange is sure the new technology that promises to open up the ecosystem of vendors involved in the radio access network is a great idea, otherwise it wouldn’t be bothering with this, but we d -

If you want to give something this Christmas that your recipient can use all year round, rather than socks and fragrances… give them a membership pack for a museum they like to visit.
Most museums have some form of membership scheme and usually offer a range of goodies, such as free entry for museums that charge an entrance fee, newsletters and the bigger venues tend to have private members events in the evenings or priority booking for public exhibitions.
As a present, it’s a very -

Exhibition tells the story of a foundling who fought at Trafalgar
Given away by his mother, named after a King, fought at Trafalgar and left a rare diary of the life of a sailor, this is an exhibition about the life of one man with an unusual story to tell.
And the discovery of his life story is no less interesting, as he wrote a diary, but until a few years ago it was just another overlooked book among so many in the archives until it was dusted off and read, and then people realised what they had here.
A rare account from a sailors perspective of life in Geo -
