• EE devotes some of its new 700 MHz spectrum to indoor 5G

EE devotes some of its new 700 MHz spectrum to indoor 5G
UK mobile operator EE has announced it will be using at least part of the low frequency spectrum it won at auction earlier this year to improve its 5G indoor coverage.
At this preliminary stage that amounts to just 50 sites but presumably there will be a lot more before long. 5G over mid-band frequencies is fine so long as there’s a fairly unimpeded line-of-site connection between base station and device. For penetrating walls and that sort of thing you can’t beat low frequency spect

Noguchi at The Barbican – all lamps and sculptures
The Barbican is currently hosting an exhibition celebrating the Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi, often considered to be one of the most experimental and pioneering artists of the 20th century.
This is also the first touring exhibition of his work in 20 years, giving people a relatively rare chance to see works that are remarkably familiar even if you might not realise that they inspired oh so many commercial copies sold in housewares shops around the world.
    He was however a wide-ranging

Europe follows UK lead in probing proposed Nvidia acquisition of Arm
A couple of months after the UK decided to take a closer look at the semiconductor mega-M&A, the European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation.
One of the advantages of being unshackled from such a massive bureaucracy is the ability to make decisions more quickly. It was only when the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority took over the review of the Virgin Media O2 merger that it was fast-tracked towards approval. Similarly, the CMA realised last August that US chip giant N

Non-wireless business propels Nokia to improve outlook
Nokia slightly improved its full-year outlook after delivering a healthy quarter, driven mainly by its network infrastructure and licensing business groups, partly offset by weakness in the mobile networks business.
The Finnish kit maker published its Q3 results, with growth in both income and profit on corporate level. Total net sales grew by 2% year-on-year to reach €5.4 billion ($6.3 billion, €1=$1.16), with gross margin improving by 3.6 percentage points to sit at 40.7%. Operating

    Inside Kilburn’s famous Tin Tabernacle
On a Kilburn side street is a large corrugated iron church-like shed that’s looking rather sorry for itself – this is the famous Kilburn Tin Tabernacle.
Built in 1863, it  was meant to be a temporary church with a requirement that it would be replaced with a conventional stone church within 5-years. Obviously, this never happened, and the church building is still standing today — although it’s now officially the Training Ship Bicester, and is used by the local Sea Ca
