Vodafone and Nokia unveil new network AI running on Google Cloud
UK operator group Vodafone and Finnish kit vendor Nokia have been mucking about with artificial intelligence to detect network anomalies.
On first inspection this seems like the kind on self-organizing/optimizing network (SON) tech that has been knocking around for years, so it’s not immediately obvious why both companies felt it was worth an announcement. Then again, we’re covering it, aren’t we?

See a model railway on Old Street
A few months ago, a large office window in Old Street gained a large model railway. It’s sort of based on the local area, but is more of an atmospheric representation than an exact replica, so no need to complain about the wrong trains/buses/whatever.
Sadly I can’t tell you more, as my enquiry to the apparent office occupiers, an office fit-out company did not get a reply.
So here are just some contextless photos of something lovely to look at.The model can be found at 5-23 Old Stree

Darwin Innovation Group, Virgin Media O2, Amazon Web Services and others are trying out a technology that instantly switches between 5G and satellite connectivity.
The core tech is being championed by Darwin Innovation Group, which emerged last October with a bit of help from O2 and some satellite interests.  The primary use-case for this ubiquitous coverage technology is the connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) space, which puts a premium on eradicating notspots for the obvious reasons.

This is HS2’s south portal site, and the largest of the railway sites that will build the new HS2 railway that aims to massively increase space on the railway for more commuter and regio
