Tickets Alert: The Sky Garden reopens in 10 days time
The Sky Garden at the top of the Walkie Talkie skyscraper has confirmed that it will be reopening from Monday 17th May.
They had been hoping to reopen in April, but that was cancelled as the venue wasn’t sufficiently “outdoors” to qualify.
I think most people would accept that it’s more of a restaurant with a view and a garden running up the sides of the top floor, but the views are still impressive and the huge floor space feels unexpectedly spacious for the top of a sky

Tickets Alert: See inside the sumptuous Two Temple Place
The magnificent, and only occasionally open, Two Temple Place is having an open weekend later this month. This is the former Astor House, and nestles just behind the Temple complex for lawyers, and more conveniently, around the corner from Temple tube station.
The building was built in 1895, and while it looks impressive from the outside, its real claim to fame is the exceptionally rich decoration of the rooms inside, and not to forget the exceptional grand staircase. For the past decade it has be

China has a moan about Indian 5G ban
Earlier this week India started 5G equipment trials that excluded Chinese vendors and China thinks that’s bang out of order.
While there didn’t appear to be and explicit ban on Chinese vendors at the time, the Chinese embassy in India reckons there was and is not happy. For some reason China decided to frame its public statement as a response to a question from an unnamed member of the media – presumably one of the ones controlled by the Chinese state.

India 5G licensing on the back burner
India’s telcos may have got the go-ahead to trial 5G services, but it could be some time before they have 5G spectrum for commercial use in their possession.
Delays in allocating spectrum have been par for the course in India over the past decade or so, so it came as no surprise when the Economic Times reported that the government is planning to push the 5G auction back to the first quarter of 2022. It had been working on a loose timeframe of later this year.

Ericsson and Samsung patent war ends in a boring truce
The only fun in covering patent disputes comes when there’s a clear winner, but Ericsson and Samsung aren’t even revealing the terms of their settlement.
Late last year we heard Ericsson was suing Samsung after accusing it of taking liberties when it comes to the licensing of FRAND patents. The Fair, Reasonable And Non-Discriminatory system is applied to standard-essential patents to stop patent holders from holding the entire industry to ransom. It would effectively be impossible to

Italy set to axe single network plan
The Italian government is reportedly on the verge of pulling the plug on a plan to create a single fixed-line network due to fears over creating a new telecoms monopoly in the country.
There have been media rumblings to that effect for a few weeks and on Thursday Bloomberg reported that Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi plans to can the single network plan on competition grounds, citing the usual unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
