Age-discrimination lawsuit rumbles on as IBM accused of ‘trendy’ objectives
In an on-going age-discrimination lawsuit, a former Big Blue executive has suggested the firm fired old-timers in pursuit of a ‘trendy’ and ‘cool’ image, so it could compete with the likes of Google and Amazon.
This saga has been quietly building in the background for quite some time. The first complaints were presented to the courts in 2018 by Shannon Liss-Riordan, with the ex-IBM employees suggesting they were culled for no reason aside from the fact they were too old. -
Vintage London Underground clocks to be added to Chadwell Heath station
Tapping into some unspent local developer funding, a local group has managed to get two vintage London Underground clocks for their railway station.
The Chadwell Heath South Residents’ Association announced that Redbridge Council will be funding the clocks with £12,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which is the money developers pay for local area improvements to get permission for their new blocks of flats.
Chadwell Heath station is currently a TfL Rail service statio -

Downbeat outlook fuelled by Huawei situation hits Qualcomm shares
Mobile chip giant Qualcomm delivered solid Q2 numbers but a gloomy outlook thanks largely to the Huawei export ban drove down its share price.

“The Huawei export ban, along with the pivot from 4G to 5G which -

On 20th July 2018, Ramsey Barreto was found guilty of using his smartphone while driving his VW Caravelle along Field End Road in Ruislip, filming a traffic incident. The case seemed to be a relatively simple one as there is video evidence of the crime, though Barreto’s lawyers have successfully overturned the conviction in the High Courts, as -

Walter Gilbert’s ornate mahogany doors at 32 Cornhill
There is a wooden door near Bank tube station that’s worth paying a visit to at weekends, for only then can it be truly admired. That’s because at weekends the doors are closed, and easy to admire, and during the week, somewhat less easy as they’re folded open and people use the doorway for doorway purposes. The doors, and indeed the whole building was constructed for Cornhill Insurance, as their head office in the 1930s. Cornhill Insurance was founded in 1905 by the directors o -
