  • A London Underground themed hotel opens

    A hotel near to Gloucester Road tube station has been redecorated with a design based on the London Underground.
    It’s a subtle theme, as too much of a tube design could have put off casual visitors simply seeking “a hotel” to stay in rather than a theme park.
    Nonetheless, there are plenty of quirks dotted around the place.Coloured District and Piccadilly lines run through corridors, and replica tiles have been used in the lobby areas.

  • Hot air balloons to fly over Central London

    The Lord Mayor’s personal hot air balloon, accompanied by up to 50 others are set to stage an early morning lift-off from Battersea Park next month.

    Due to the lift-off being subject to weather conditions, they reserve the Sunday mornings in June: 2nd, 9th, 16th or 30th. Lift off is usually at first light – so around 5am to 6am.

    The Geffrye Museum is currently closed for a major upgrade, but next month there will be a chance to go behind the hordings to see the building site.
    A year ahead of the museum’s reopening in Spring 2020, you will be able to see the work in progress as 300-year-old spaces are being opened up to the public for the first time, alongside the creation of a new studio and learning pavilion.
