Spotify’s ‘Duo’ tariff gives a whiff of what’s to come
Sharing accounts might be the norm in the world of content streaming platforms, but Spotify’s new ‘Duo’ tariff might be a sign of changing attitudes.
In many homes throughout the world, streaming platforms are shared. This is a truth which is generally accepted as the norm, but it does technically violate the terms and conditions of the service and does impact the experience for the user. For example, if users are sharing a premium Spotify account, it can only be used on one de -

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has lodged a lawsuit against Facebook, challenging the hyper-targeted big data model which has made OTTs billions over the years.
Quoting the Fair Housing Act, the HUD has claimed Facebook is breaking the law by encouraging, enabling, and causing housing discrimination. The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing and housing-related services, including online advertisements. Facebook’s advertising platform is said to dis -

Find the King’s Cross milestone
People rushing to catch trains at King’s Cross are often oblivious of what they are standing next to, and right by a pedestrian crossing is an old milestone. It’s exceptionally easy to overlook in the hustle of city life, being very badly weather (or pollution) worn, and barely readable.
There seems to be an air of slight mystery about it though — as unlike many mile stones, it’s not that well recorded. It might not even be in its original location. But clearly someone som -
Reduced entry into Bank tube station from next week
Starting next week, the main Central line ticket hall at Bank station will become exit-only in the mornings. There will also be a reduced down escalator service to the Central line during the evening peak.
This affects the ticket hall underneath Bank road junction, not the entrance at Lombard Street which gives quicker access to the Northern line and DLR.
The restrictions are part of the works being undertaken for the Bank station upgrade, as a plant room has had to be moved to enable the works -
DT CEO moans as bidding in German 5G auction tops €1 billion
Just for a change operators are moaning about the amount they have to pay for licensed spectrum, arguing that leaves less cash for infrastructure.
This time the country in question is Germany, which is in the middle of a 5G auction its operators have had a problem with from the start. According to the regulator bidding has already topped a billion euros and, while it still has a way to go before reaching the orgiastic excesses of the Italian one, muttering about the cost has already begun.

BT mulls redundancies for a quarter of staff – report
BT is considering further redundancies to increase profitability at the firm, with 25,000 jobs, a quarter of its employees, reportedly under threat.
According to Bloomberg, the battle-weary telco is mulling over the plans as new CEO Phillip Jensen prepares for his first meaningful earnings call in May. The telco has not confirmed or denied the reports thus far.
Having taken over the business from Gavin Patterson in February, Jensen is currently in the unenviable position of turning the supertank -
