Infographic: Who are the MNO market share leaders in Europe?
With the assistance of Ovum and the data from its World Cellular Information Service, we bring you a new infographic outlining the market share leaders in the European mobile markets.
While a number of the markets play out as you would expect, there were a few surprises thrown in there. Spain and Germany are obvious examples, but then so is the Belgian market; in short, you no longer have to be the domestic champion to take control of a market.
There are a possible couple of explanations, for ex -
Ericsson and Qualcomm get excited about voice over LTE-M
The concept of machines wirelessly talking to each other is no longer just a metaphor as the first instances of voice being carried over an IoT technology are announced.
The LPWAN tech in question is LTE Cat-M1, otherwise known as LTE-M and eMTC, which until now had been treated as data-only. But just as with the main flavour of LTE, people figured it would be nice to have a voice option too.
Ericsson and Qualcomm seem to have been the main drivers behind this technology, partnering with Verizon -

Statement By CUB Executive Director David Kolata On Veto Of SB 1839
CHICAGO , July 1, 2017/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --andnbsp;We thank Gov. Bruce Rauner for his veto of Senate Bill 1839. This legislation would have hurt people who depend on a landline as their most reliable link to vital services. Also, SB 1839 did nothing to require ATandamp;T to modernize its network, and it would have pushed the state of Illinoisout of the discussion of how we build a positive telecom future. We urge the Illinois General Assembly to preserve this veto and begin a new, pro-consu -

Virgin Media’s Project Lightning fibre rollout ‘in reboot mode’
According to documents seen by the Telegraph, Virgin Media’s network expansion project is running way behind schedule.

What is the UK government’s £400 million fibre investment for?
The government has launched its latest initiative to tackle connectivity across the UK by offering up £400 million for full fibre broadband across the country.
It’s a nice number to parade around, but why has it taken so long for the UK to wake up to the benefits of a full-fibre diet. Even towards the end of last year, there were still executives preaching the benefits of copper, attempting to justify the half-way house of G.fast as a means to an end. While G.fast is certainly faster -
