Ericsson and Telia supply sweet speedy Swedish stepping stones
Swedish telcos put personal challenges behind them to set a new mark for pre-5G testing with a whopping 15 Gbps peak rate.
The two got together in Kista, Sweden to get their 5G on and brought along 800 MHz of spectrum in the 15 GHz band to get the party started. The big claim was actually a peak rate of ‘15 gigabits per user’ which we presume contains an unspoken ‘per second’. The other big claim was a latency below 3 milliseconds. The two companies want to start offering -
Sky promises MVNO launch soon – don’t hold your breath
Sky is about to put us all out of our misery and launch its MVNO product, or so it claims.
Back in January 2015, the team teased the industry naughtily with the announcement it would be entering the MVNO arena through a partnership with Telefónica UK, but like the husband who was tempted back from the pub on a promise, only to find a sleeping wife, we were left unsatisfied. Sky has long-operated in the triple-play market, but mobile has to date been a step to far. Not anymore.

Over the course of this week two government reports on the role of artificial intelligence have been launched, officially confirming the arrival of the technology on a global scale.

TalkTalk feels lonely as customers fancy other brands – report
It looks like TalkTalk is suffering from the telco equivalent to post-traumatic stress disorder from last year’s devastating attack on its network – according to research from Kantar Worldpanel.
ICYMI, nationwide multiplay service provider TalkTalk had its network thoroughly and shamelessly exploited by a teenager last year, apparently intent on penetrating anything they could. Roughly a quarter of its then 4 million customers had their personal details half-inched, although a saving -

As revenues from voice and data services continue to subside, cloud services offer a perfect chance for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) to drive growth by building out new income streams. Their expertise in network infrastructure and connectivity -
The bromance is over as Virgin snitches on BT over misleading ads
The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against three BT broadband ads lodged by supposed broadband buddy Virgin Media.
The ads were broadcast back in April, so it’s not clear what took the ASA so long to look into the matter, concluding somewhat redundantly that BT isn’t allowed to show those ads again. Since BT is already in the middle of a massive new advertising campaign this would appear to be a token sanction but at least it might set some kind of preceden -
