Sony has released its quarterly results reporting a profit of $205 million on revenues of $15.6 billion, in a quarter which proved to be of mixed fortunes.
Year-on-year both revenues and profits were down for the period, 11% and 74% respectively, though the team did decrease its exposure in the smartphone market, saw the negative impact of the foreign exchange market, as well as an earthquake which disrupted operations at one of its manufacturing plants. Microsoft has announced it will reduce its headcount by a further 2,850 by the end of 2017, as it continues to distance itself from the less-than-successful Nokia acquisition.
