Pernod Ricard doubles down on investment in ‘super premium’ brands
Pernord Ricard is doubling down on investment in its super premium brands as it looks to capitalise on the ‘drink less but better’ trend.
Despite economic uncertainties in the face of a potential no-deal Brexit, the brand remained clear that it would continue to invest in its super premium products particularly across gin and whisky.
Speaking during the company’s full-year results meeting this morning (3 September) David Haworth, managing director of Pernod Ricard UK, exp -

Vice President Mike Pence has elected to stay at President Donald Trump's golf resort in Doonbeg while visiting Ireland this week, despite having to fly more than 100 miles to attend meetings in Dublin.
Pence flew from the west coast to the east coast of Ireland to meet with the Irish president and prime minister and various business leaders today. He's slated to fly back to stay a second night at Trump's resort.

Stocks are diving as the US and China struggle to schedule trade talks after ramping up tariffs
European equities and US futures dropped Tuesday as traders reacted to the latest escalation in the US-China trade war and the two sides' failure to schedule talks to resolve the dispute.
The Trump administration slapped tariffs on $112 billion in Chinese goods on Sunday, and China retaliated with the first of two batches of duties targeting $75 billion worth of US goods.
The two governments have struggled to schedule trade talks expected to take place this month.

The pound just plunged to a 2-year low after Boris Johnson threatened a general election, fanning fears of more Brexit chaos
The British pound plunged to its lowest level in two years on Tuesday morning, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson threatened a general election in October.
The currency slumped 0.62% against the US dollar to $1.1991 ahead of a crucial meeting of Parliament this week to decide how the UK leaves the EU.
If British lawmakers vote for legislation intended to prevent the UK leaving the EU without a deal, Johnson said he would seek a general election.

‘Failure is a nightmare without reflection’: Zoopla’s CMO on learning from mistakes
Failure tends to be talked about in a negative light. And people often feel, especially early on in their career, that getting things wrong will adversely affect their career prospects.
But Zoopla CMO Gary Bramall suggests that’s not necessarily the case. As long as marketers understand why something hasn’t worked and they don’t make the same mistake again, then it should be treated as a learning exercise.
He references a book called ‘Win or Learn’ by John Kavanagh, -
Is John Lewis and Waitrose’s joint marketing strategy working?
It’s been a year since John Lewis and Waitrose unveiled their new visual identities and launched their first joint marketing campaign.
A fiercely competitive retail market had prompted a rebrand a few months prior, adding ‘& Partners’ to both names. But the John Lewis Partnership (JLP), which owns both retailers, wanted to do something big to show customers what actually makes it different from other retail chains.
So big, that the ‘& Partners’ campaign was -
