Dennis Lynch, head of growth investing at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, was the top large-cap portfolio manager of 2017, and his funds have been dominating for years.
He says he balances two elements while running his team of investors: culture and cognitive diversity.
Those two core tenets inform some unique managerial techniques employed by Lynch, including personality tests and a reading network.
"There's no right way to do this."
Dennis Lynch establishes this early on when explaining -
Why Disney rarely pays movie stars huge salaries
Disney has been the most profitable movie studio in Hollywood for several years — and remarkably, it hasn't had to pay hefty sums to its actors.
The studio has proved that today's moviegoer is more interested in the characters in the movies than the actors playing them. But Ben Fritz, the author of "The Big Picture: The Fight for the Future of Movies," explains that actors in a successful Disney movie can still make serious bank — they just might have to wait a few movies.

Hedge funds are making a dangerous bet — and history suggests it's going to blow up in their faces
Hedge funds and other large speculators are currently holding their largest-ever short position on one of the market's most closely watched assets.
History suggests that positioning to this degree will be detrimental to their long-term prospects, since it's acted like a contrarian indicator in the past.
In the world of investing, it's usually a troublesome development when a position gets too popular.
Pundits prefer to use the word "crowded" to describe these trades, which can quickly escalate i -

Bridgewater, the world's biggest hedge fund, says a crucial market driver is at 10 o'clock — and forecasts widespread pain once it gets to 12
Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund, is sounding the alarm on one crucial market driver, according to a note to clients reviewed by Business Insider.
The hedge fund reportedly recently shifted to a net short position on US equities.
On the surface, Bridgewater Associates' performance last month looks unremarkable.
Sure, the $150 billion firm's flagship fund lost 1% in April, but it's still up about 4% over the first four months of the year, according to a Bloomberg report.

"Avengers: Infinity War" wins the box office for a third straight weekend.
The movie is the second fastest ever to cross the half-billion mark at the domestic box office.
Disney/Marvel Studios' plan to bump up the release of "Avengers: Infinity War" (or was it Robert Downey Jr.'s idea?) a weekend earlier than originally planned has worked out perfectly.
The movie was always destined to make an incredibly large amount of money its opening weekend, but instead of one weekend between the latest Mar -

This labored rebound worries The Leuthold Group, which explains how market conditions could be foreshadowing the next crash.
When stocks hit a rough patch, the amount of time they take to fully recoup those losses can provide a valuable hint as to how healthy the market truly is.
Which is why recent findings from The Leuthold Group paint such a stark picture for US equities r -

At Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting 2018 on Saturday, Warren Buffett compared $10,000 invested in gold and stocks in 1942 to demonstrate why he's always been bullish on buying the latter.
"For every dollar you could have made in American business, you'd have less than a penny of gain by buying into a store of value which people tell you to run to every time you get scared by the headlines," Buffett said.
Warren Buffett has been a strong advocate of investing in the stock mark -
