ISM manufacturing ticked up more than expected
The latest readings on the health of US manufacturing are out on Wednesday morning.
ISM manufacturing PMI rose to 56.0 in January.
That was above economists' expectations for an uptick to 55.0, from December's seasonally adjusted reading of 54.5.
A reading above 50 suggests that the industry is still expanding.
Meanwhile, Markit manufacturing PMI came in at 55.0 in January. This was just a hair lower than the expectation of 55.1.SEE ALSO: What 25 major world leaders and dictators -

The analyst behind the data everyone is citing to argue against Trump's immigration ban says it changed his mind on the issue
In the past 41 years, no American has been killed on US soil by a terrorist from any of the seven countries included in President Donald Trump's controversial executive order on immigration. That's one of the findings of a comprehensive look at foreign terror on US soil analyzed by Alex Nowrasteh of the libertarian Cato Institute.
Combining data from multiple sources, Nowrasteh found that the actual risk to Americans has been infinitesimal, and some of the terrorists that have been caught on US -
PAUL SINGER'S ELLIOTT: 'There is a deep underlying complacency which we think permeates global financial markets'
Elliott Management, the $31.6 billion New York hedge fund run by Paul Singer, is prepping for a wide swath of market moves as Donald Trump's presidency takes shape.
"Now more than ever, we want to be positioned for as many permutations as possible in order to preserve capital if market conditions deteriorate," Elliott wrote in its fourth-quarter letter released in January, a copy of which was reviewed by Business Insider.
Investors are battling uncertainty from the US in the wake of Preside -
RAY DALIO: 'We are increasingly concerned about the emerging policies of the Trump administration'
Ray Dalio, the head of the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is cooling off on his opinion of President Donald Trump.
Dalio, who had been hopeful about a Trump presidency and some of his economic policies, seems to have struck a less optimistic tone, according to a letter obtained by Bloomberg.
In the letter, Dalio warned that there was a high level of uncertainty in the market and told clients to avoid investing too heavily in a particular asset, according to the Bloomberg report.

'The US labor market is hitting on all cylinders'
ADP's reading on the growth of private payrolls in the US surged above expectations for the month of January.
The measure of private-sector job growth increased by 246,000 for the month, well above the 168,000 that economists were expecting. The measure grew by 153,000 in the prior month.
The huge ADP beat is also a good sign of strength in the labor market ahead of the January jobs report, which is due out on Friday. That more comprehensive look is expected show nonfarm payrolls grew by 175,000 -
The peso has done something shocking since Trump took office
The Mexican peso has done something shocking since President Donald Trump took on office January 20th. It's actually stronger versus the US dollar.
The Mexican peso hit a one-month high of 20.6601 per dollar on Wednesday morning before trimming some of its gains. The currency trades up 0.4% at 20.7520 per dollar as of 8:22 a.m ET.
Mexico's currency has had a wild start to 2017.

How to avoid getting stuck in the London bubble
Brands are missing out on opportunities and wasting ad spend by not recognising regional differences across the UK and failing to meet the needs, preferences and media consumption habits of people outside London.
The EU Referendum vote last June proved that Britain is not a united kingdom. Look at any map showing the split between the location of leave and remain voters and it’s a patchy picture, which among other things highlights that the views of those living in the capi -
The risk and rewards of brands taking on Trump
A lot can happen in 12 days. But few would have expected President Donald Trump to make so many radical changes in such a short space of time.
In particular, Trump’s executive order to suspend the US refugee admissions system for 120 days and to ban all entry of citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries has been met with widespread anger. In fact, hundreds of thousands continue to take to the streets globally to protest against the controversial changes.
And it isn’t just the pu -

Apple reported record revenue and profit when it reported first fiscal quarter earnings on Tuesday.

One notable category, however, that Apple saw significant annual declines in, was in "others," a catch-all category where Apple lists sales of products like the Apple Watch, various accessories and dongles, Beats headphones, and the Apple TV.
That category got crushed. It was down 8% from the same time last year, despite a r -

"I am optimistic on what I'm hearing for some tax reform this year," Cook said on the call. "I
