  All eyes were on the Dow Jones Industrial Average as the index once again flirted with the 20,000 level on Friday.
  Ultimately, it was just shy of hitting the benchmark. The index touched 19,999.63 in the early afternoon before backtracking into the close.

  Theranos is going through its second round of layoffs.
  The blood-testing company confirmed it is laying off 41% of its staff, Bloomberg first reported.

  The luxury retailer Neiman Marcus has requested to withdraw its initial public offering.
  The company, which filed for its flotation in August 2015, said in a statement Friday it had "determined that it is not in its best interests to proceed with the initial public offering."

  Stocks are rallying on Friday after the December jobs report showed that wage growth rose at the fastest pace since 2009.

  The US oil rig count increased by four to 529 this week, a one-year high, according to oilfield services company Baker Hughes. 
  The gas rig count increased by three to 135. With one miscellaneous rig remaining in use, the total count rose by seven to 665.
