  US home values are rising fast, and are now on the verge of hitting their 2007 peak, according to Zillow Group.
  Home values rose 6.5% over the 12-month period to November, the fastest annual growth since August 2006. The median US home is now valued at $192,500, just 2% below the peak it reached in 2007.
  Home rents rose 1.5% over the past year to $1,403 per month.

  Consumer confidence is expected to have climbed to 109.0 in December, up from 107.1 in November. The November reading was the best since July 2007. 
  Consumer confidence has been improving since Donald Trump won the election. The December reading from the University of Michigan showed that measure improved to 98.2 in December, the best since January 2004.

  Consumer confidence climbed in December to a post-recession high, according to the Conference Board's monthly report published on Tuesday. 
  The confidence index rose to 113.7, the highest level since July 2007. Economists had forecast that the index rose to 109.0 from 107.1.

  US home prices extended to their best levels since the financial crisis, according to the October reading of the S&P/Case-Shiller index.
  The national home-price index rose by 5.6% on an annualized basis in October, up from 5.4% in the prior month. 
  The 20-city index, which covers major metropolitan areas like Seattle and Chicago, increased by 5.1%, up from 5% in September.

  The Japanese yen is falling in quiet trading on Tuesday. 
  Against the US dollar, the yen is weaker by 0.2% at 117.374 as of 8:08 a.m. ET. Data released earlier showed that consumer prices slumped 0.6% year-over-year in Tokyo, making for the biggest drop since February 2013, and showing that Japan's economy still lacks inflation. Employment data were also released, showing that the jobless rate ticked up to 3.1%.
