US department store chain Saks Global has won court approval to hire a liquidator to offload the assets of its off-price ecommerce unit Saks Off Fifth.

Morrisons in battle with Usdaw over pay rises
Morrisons has reportedly told workers they will not be given significant pay rises this year, following the Government’s tax increases on employers and the minimum wage hike.
Bosses at the supermarket are locked in a disagreement over pay rises with trade union Usdaw, which represent roughly 45,000 Morrisons workers, LBC reported.

Guess has been taken private following the completion of its takeover by Authentic Brands Group, bringing an end to the fashion brand’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Sainsbury’s offering 50% Nectar card discounts
Sainsbury’s has cut the price of fruit, vegetable and fridge staples by up to 50%, to entice shoppers away from rival retailers.

Iceland bolsters retail media with ‘UK first’ sensor technology
Iceland Foods is rolling out “UK first” sensor-based technology throughout its retail media network, as it seeks to bolster its in-store advertising.
Iceland Retail Media, operated through Iceland and The Food Warehouse, has partnered with software development firm Stratacache to provide in-store digital signage and analytic sensor technology across 766 locations.

Amazon to axe thousands more corporate roles, says report
Amazon is reportedly planning to cut a second round of jobs next week, under a wider plan to slash roughly 30,000 roles from the company.
The retail giant axed 14,000 jobs from its global corporate workforce in October.

Retail sales rise boosted by online jewellery demand
Retail sales rose in December despite falling over the fourth quarter (Q4), new Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures have revealed.
Retail revenues were estimated to have dropped 0.3% over Q4 (October to December 2025) compared to Q3, as supermarkets and non-store retailers’ revenues both declined.
However, retail sales were forecast to have grown 0.4% in December, after a 0.1% fall in November and a 0.8% decline in October.
