John Lewis has opened its Jamie Oliver cookery school and cafe at its Oxford Street flagship.
The store’s new additions, which span over 4,600sq ft on the third floor, includes two cookery school classrooms and a 50-seat Jamie Oliver cafe.
The opening comes in response to increasing demand from customers to combine shopping with eating and drinking, with hospitality sales at the department store up 6% over the last year.

Mothercare profits slump amid uncertainty over Middle East
Mothercare reported its profits had plummeted in its latest pre-close update, which it attributed to the “continued impact of the uncertainty in the Middle East” upon its franchise partner.
The nursery specialist adjusted EBITDA for the period covering 52 weeks to 29 March came in at £3.5m, falling from £6.9m compared to the same time last year.

Tesco CEO bags £9.2m pay packet
Tesco chief executive Ken Murphy took home more than £9m last year after the grocery giant’s pre-tax profits topped £2.2bn.
The supermarket boss was paid £9.23m during the period, down £1m from the year before due to lower slightly lower bonus levels and performance share plan (PSP).
