Asda has begun 2025 in the way that no retailer wants to – reporting its worst Christmas since 2015, as well as a series of redundancies across the retailer.
The grocery giant saw sales slump 5.8% during the 12 weeks to 29 December, according to Kantar.
It also axed roles for 13 regional managers following the results, as part of a shake-up designed to cut headcount and improve performance.

H&M ‘on track’ as full-year profits and sales rise
H&M chief executive Daniel Ervér said he was confident that the fashion giant is “on track” as full-year profits jumped and sales rose.

Asda brings back Rollback price cuts and pocket tap
Asda has brought back its Rollback price proposition and famous pocket tap as part of chair Allan Leighton’s efforts to revive the supermarket.
The grocery chain, which was the only traditional supermarket to see sales fall in the run up to Christmas, has slashed the prices of more than 4,000 products in store and online by an average of 25%.
