The number of remaining House of Fraser stores in the UK has halved over the past year following the closure of its Cabot Circus branch in Bristol last week.
The Mike Ashley-owned department store chain has just 15 shops remaining – a steep drop from the 31 stores it had as of April last year and the 59 when it acquired the business in 2018.
The closure of the Cabot Circus store, which will M&S has taken over and plans to open next year, comes after the retailer’s Reading, Solihu

Data: Sainsbury’s makes biggest market share gain since 1997 as Asda sales plummet
Sainsbury’s recorded its biggest market share gain since 1997 in last quarter as Asda’s sales plummet.
According to fresh data from Kantar, Sainsbury’s market share jumped from 14.8% last year to 15.3% for the 12 weeks to 4 August, as it maintained its streak of being the fastest growing traditional supermarket. Its sales rose 5.2% over the period.

Pandora’s UK sales marginally rose in its second quarter, as the jeweller benefitted from an increase in traffic during the period.
Revenues nudged up 1% to £79.4m from £75.1m last year.
