John Lewis boss Peter Ruis has unveiled plans to increase the amount of staff working on the shop floor in a bid to boost the fortunes of the retailer.

Asda has scrapped plans for a four-day working week after employees insisted they had been left feeling exhausted.
While the grocery giant initially brought in flexible working arrangements in January in a bid to tackle a revolt from dissatisfied store managers, a trial of the four-day week has been canned, The Telegraph reported.

Luxury fashion brand Burberry is gearing up to slash hundreds of jobs under a cost-cutting programme as its profits plunge.
The retailer has lost over a third of its stock market value since the start of the year and is at risk of being booted off the FTSE 100, according to The Telegraph.
