Frasers Group has lifted its stake in Asos once again as it continues its investment spree.
Mike Ashely’s empire raised its shares in the online fashion retailer to 23% on Wednesday, building on top of last week’s increase to 22.7%.
It comes as the group is also rapidly increasing its shares in rival Boohoo, lifting its stake to 15.1% last week as the retailer’s largest shareholder.Subscribe to Retail Gazette for free

EE branches into ecommerce to sell smart TVs, fridges and kettles
EE will start selling smart fridges, TVs, kettles and fitness products as it branches out into the ecommerce market.
The telco company aims to utilise tactics developed selling its telecoms goods and services to support its venture into consumer electronics.

Discount chain One Beyond circles 50 ex-Wilko outlets
One Beyond is considering taking on about 50 ex-Wilko units as part of its expansion plans – with final agreements expected to be made on 25.
The discount chain has agreed to take on two former outlets – in Boston and Chelmsford – and is negotiating a third, the business’ chairman Christ Edwards Sr told The Grocer.

Fenwick returns to profit boosted by Bond Street store sale
Fenwick has returned to profit, boosted by the sale of its New Bond Street store for £430m, Retail Week reports.
The sale of the department store retailer’s 130-year old flagship last December enabled the business to report pre-tax profits of £57.1m last year, compared to a loss of £5.2m a year earlier.
Gross sales rose 31% to £315m in the year to January 28, 2023, as shoppers headed back into to stores, while online sales increased 51%.

Boots has launched a new premium and professional haircare category online as part of its strategy to expand its beauty product range and increase its presence in the premium beauty market.

Sainsbury’s silently axes consumer recycling banks
Sainsbury’s has been removing its on-site recycling banks across the UK, as it “prioritises services that people cannot get elsewhere”.
The Times newspaper revealed that the grocer had been quietly closing down its recycling points for items including metal glass and cans across a number of local communities, where there have been reports of missing bins since early this year.

Amazon to relaunch UK delivery drones next year
Amazon has confirmed it will be relaunching its delivery drones in the UK next year, Sky News reports.
The online giant said it will begin deploying the unmanned, airborne vehicles for distributing goods from some of its same-day delivery sites, including one located in the UK although no location has yet been revealed.
