Iceland is taking on Amazon’s Prime Day sales event with the launch of its latest value campaign Discount Dash.
The supermarket is offering its shoppers exclusive discounts on 42 products – ranging from household staples to TGI Friday fakeaways – on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Customers can save an average of 33% on items that “families need the most”.
The chain is also offering up to 50% off selected household products including a family pool, Bluetooth karaoke machine

Frasers ups stake in Currys
Frasers has upped its stake in Currys from 10.4% to 11.1% as the pair start discussions about a possible tie-up.
The Mike Ashley-owned group increased its shares on Monday as part of its “strategic investment” into the electricals retailer.
Currys chief executive Alex Baldock revealed last week that begun talks with the retail group.

Revolution Beauty CEO would resign under Boohoo peace deal
Revolution Beauty CEO Bob Holt would resign if a settlement is reached with Boohoo over board changes in the coming days.
Holt, who was fired and rehired at Revolution’s AGM last month, would leave his position as part of a compromise deal with its disgruntled shareholder, according to Sky News.
However, it has not been confirmed if the chief executive would leave immediately or when a successor took over.

Amazon users plunge ahead of Prime Day
Amazon UK has lost more than a million daily mobile app users since the start of the year, according to mobile analytics firm GWS.
The business intelligence firm revealed the number of Amazon’s daily shoppers has declined from 9.3 million in January to 8.3 million, ahead of the retail giant’s highly anticipated Prime Day.
The decline comes as the rapid emergence of ecommerce rivals has led to a significant fall in Amazon app users during the past seven months.

Sosandar reports first full year of profitability
Sosandar has recorded its first full year of profitability for the year ending March, 2023 ”despite the challenging macroeconomic conditions.”
The British fashion retailer posted a profit before tax of £1.6m, a £2.2m increase from the £0.6m loss the business reported last year as revenues hit rose 44% to £42.5m.

Revolution Beauty says compromise with Boohoo could be days away
Revolution Beauty believes a compromise with major shareholder Boohoo is close and could be reached in the coming days, after the online cosmetics retailer said it will hold a general meeting on August 7.

In June, UK retail sales saw a year-on-year increase, accompanied by a boost in consumer confidence, despite ongoing concerns on inflation and rising interest rates that continue to impact the economy.

Waitrose partners with Uber Eats offer 20-minute grocery delivery
Uber Eats has partnered with premium supermarket Waitrose, aiming to deliver groceries in as little as 20 minutes.
The offer will be rolled out to more than 200 stores around the UK by the end of August.
It comes as Waitrose said younger customers helped grow its on-demand grocery orders by 40% compared to 2022.

Amazon needs better discounts to stop Prime Day decline, says GlobalData
Amazon needs to improve its discounts to prevent a fall in Prime Day participation, according to GlobalData.
The consulting company’s senior retail analyst Eleanor Simpson-Gould explained Amazon needed to offer “unmissable deals on top brands” over the discounting event, which is held on 11 to 12 July, to increase involvement in the event, due to “many retailers already advertising a plethora of discounts”.
