I am not surprised that a dramatic TV character such as Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully inspired many young girls to go into science (G2, 30 December). However, memorable women can also inspire young boys. While in primary school, one little boy watched Greer Garson in Madame Curie (MGM, 1943) with amazement, on TV. More than 50 years later, I am still inspired by science.
