Tories' Warnings About Labour Raising National Insurance Return To Haunt Them After Budget 2017
Philip Hammond’s Budget broke a Tory election pledge to not raise National Insurance contributions, something they warned would “cost jobs and hit hardworking taxpayers”.
And unfortunately for them, the internet remembered and the scores of warnings from 2015 about how Labour might raise it if they were elected.
In the run-up to the General Election, when the polls appeared to be balanced, David Cameron’s Conservatives emphasised the economy and Labour’s refusa -
Budget 2017: 10 Bits Of Bad News Buried By Philip Hammond
Philip Hammond’s first and last Spring Budget lasted just 55 minutes.
And his ‘Red Book’ of Budget documents was a rather slim 64 pages.
Yet both it and the Office for Budget Responsibility’s thicker assessment contained some hidden items and small print that the Government seemed curiously unkeen on promoting.
Here’s 10 of them.

Donald Trump Gets Roasted For Tweets Celebrating International Women's Day
President Donald Trump must have realised he risked a fierce reaction when he tweeted a message of support for International Women’s Day on Wednesday. And that’s exactly what he got. With a track record of sexism and misogyny, Trump’s claim to have “tremendous respect” for women went down like a bucket of cold sick.

Sean Spicer Tries To Defend Donald Trump's Obama Wiretap Claims, Fails Again
Sean Spicer, the man still showing the residual effects of a former incarnation as a deer basking in headlights, was left foundering once again during yet another painful-to-watch press briefing.
Having already used two stacks of paper to try and make an important political point, the White House Press Secretary struggled to defend President Trump’s claims that Barack Obama had him wiretapped during the election campaign.

Budget 2017 Speech Called 'Jaw Dropping' By SNP For Failing To Address Brexit
Philip Hammond’s Budget speech has been criticised for only mentioning Brexit in passing and containing nothing to address it.
In the 6,760-word speech, the Chancellor mentioned no specific measure to help cope with the potential fallout of leaving the EU, which is due to begin before the end of the month, when Theresa May has pledged to trigger Article 50.
Hammond opposed Brexit before last year’s referendum and is seen as more cautious on the issue than others in the Cabinet.

One of the hardest jobs for an Opposition leader is responding to a Budget - so a few stumbles are to be expected.

The Labour leader quickly corrected himself to say “Brexit”. Although both -
Philip Hammond Packed His First And Last Spring Budget With 8 Hilarious Jokes
Philip Hammond successfully defied his critics and delivered joke after joke in the Spring Budget today, leaving Conservative MPs jeering and roaring with laughter.
The Chancellor - nicknamed ‘Spreadsheet Phil’ and notably more camera-shy than his predecessor - delivered quips aimed squarely at Jeremy Corbyn, the SNP and even his own leader Theresa May.
But he began Wednesday’s 60-minute speech with a self-deprecating put-down at his own expense.

In his first Budget since taking over as Chancellor last July, Hammond announced National Insurance contributions for the self-employed would go up by 2% by April 2019.
The move is set to raise £2billion for the Treasury, but breaks an election promise from the Tories that there would be no increases to National Insurance if the party were elected.
