    Environment Agency pay offer is ‘simply not enough’, says UNISON
    UNISON’s Environment Agency (EA) sector committee has recommended that members reject the latest pay offer from the agency, saying the offer is “simply not enough” to address the cost of living crisis.
    Pay negotiations for 2022/23 with the EA concluded last week when a full and final offer was made that equated to an average increase of 2% plus £345 consolidated increase and some modest increases to allowances.

    Many newly qualified paramedics in the East of England are beginning to see an increase in their pay this month after fighting together for better banding.

When the role was introduced in 2016, it was agreed that NQPs would be on band five for a two-year “consolidation of learning” period to display the knowledge, in order to go up to band six.

    Staff at exam board AQA are to stage a 72-hour walkout later this week ​that could affect the delivery of thousands of GCSE and A-level results.
    The employees, including those involved in organising the awarding of grades, will walk out for three days from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July in a dispute over pay.
    Many of the 180 staff affected say they’re struggling to make ends meet following successive below-inflation pay awards.

    Louder and prouder: UNISON launches trans equality campaign
    At the 2022 local government and national delegate conferences, UNISON unanimously passed motions on trans equality, recognising the importance of the union being loud and visible in support of its trans members.
    On Friday 15 July, UNISON launched its trans equality campaign, which features updated guidance on trans workers’ rights.
    The campaign has four objectives:
    • to roll out trans ally training across all UNISON regions;
    • to build trans and non-binary member activism to org
