  Afghanistan is a party to the international criminal court. This means that the situation in a member state (US forces called in hospital airstrike, general admits, 7 October) can be referred and investigated by the prosecutor, and anyone suspected of violating the statute on the territory of a country that is a party to the Rome treaty of the ICC is fair game for prosecution. This bombing should be investigated by the ICC for possible prosecution of any of those who ordered it.
