• Universal gets Iowa homeowners license

    Universal Insurance Holdings (UIH) is set to continue expanding
    its geographic footprint after its main operating subsidiary won
    approval from the Iowa Insurance Division as a licensed insurer in
    the state.
    The publicly traded homeowners insurer based in Fort Lauderdale,
    Florida said it would now look to build out its presence in Iowa,
    extending its reach as a national writer of the business class.

    WR Berkley's Nautilus excess and surplus unit promoted Trish
    Buckhardt to senior vice president in charge of its new strategic
    initiatives group.
    The wholesaler elevated Buckhardt from vice president of

  • Alliant claims victory over Aon in 'poaching' trial

    Acquisitive US broker Alliant has claimed vindication in a
    years-long legal battle with Aon over its 2014 hiring of a group of
    California producers from its much larger rival.
    After an eight-week trial, a Fresno jury found in Alliant's
    favour on all the remaining counts at issue, the Newport Beach,
    California-based company said yesterday in a statement. The verdict
    came on 22 March after under five hours of deliberations, Alliant
