Chris McDowell has resigned as Bermuda CEO of Aon Benfield's
global re-specialty division and will become CEO of Willis Re
Bermuda, as revealed by sister publication Trading
Risk.
From 1 January retro specialist McDowell will succeed Michael
Harden, who will become president of Willis Re Asia Pacific.
McDowell began his career in 1985 at EW Payne in London. He

PartnerRe appoints Ogut and Srinivasan to board
Bermudian reinsurer PartnerRe has appointed Bilge Ogut and Nikhil
Srinivasan to its board.
Ogut is head of private equity in Europe for private markets
investment management firm Partners Group.
Prior to joining the company she was deputy head of private
equity at Standard Bank International, having previously spent
around 12 years with investment firm Warburg Pincus from 1998.
Srinivasan currently serves as group chief investment officer
(CIO) for Italian carrier Generali. He also sits on the g -

Everest Re's Lloyd's Syndicate 2786 has hired Scott

Former Travelers CEO Jay Fishman died on Friday in his New Jersey home following a battle with a neuromuscular condition. -
Whittaker named EPUL managing director
Commercial property managing general agent (MGA) European Property
Underwriting Ltd (EPUL) has promoted Andrew Whittaker to managing
director.
In a statement released today the adviser and carrier said
Whittaker would continue to report to chief executive Ian
Dopson.
He had served as a director at the company from October
2013.
Prior to joining EPUL Whittaker was a director at Towergate for
over 14 years from 1999, before which he held a number of

Standard Syndicate adds three lines
The Standard Syndicate has expanded its underwriting focus into
political risk, political violence and terrorism, and fine art and
specie.
Syndicate 1884 has hired three senior class underwriters to lead
the new offerings, appointing Alexandra de Souza Mattos as
underwriter for political violence and terrorism, Hubert
Bélanger as class underwriter for political risk and Joshila
Tailor as class underwriter for fine art and specie lines.

Former Willis director sentenced over $2mn fraud
Former Willis Towers Watson executive director Simon Higginson has
been sentenced to five years imprisonment over a conspiracy to
defraud the broker of over $2.3mn.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Higginson and his
partner Lee Willis ran a sophisticated fraud scheme involving the
identity theft of a business contact.
Willis was sentenced to four years in jail at Southwark Crown
Court last week for his involvement in the scheme.

ArgoGlobal appoints O'Gorman marine chief
Argo's Lloyd's arm ArgoGlobal has hired Steve
O'Gorman as its new head of marine, the company announced
today.
O'Gorman will take up the role with immediate effect and
will report to director of underwriting and active underwriter
Bruno Ritchie.
The carrier said former marine head Philip Thorpe-Apps would
take on an "expanded position" as global head of marine
and energy.
O'Gorman joins the company from CNA Insurance, where he
previously served as European underwriting director for transport

AM Best has upgraded the financial strength rating of TransRe
from A to A+ after the reinsurer signed an underwriting agreement
with Gen Re.
The five-year deal, announced in July, will allow brokers and
intermediaries to access Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary Gen Re's
traditionally direct-only capacity througha new underwriting platform managed by TransRe.The rating agency said the deal would bolster the company's
