Allied World has built on a solid set of Q1 results with a strong
earnings beat for the second quarter as it reported a significant
improvement in underwriting performance and an enhanced
contribution from its investment portfolio.
Q2 operating profits of $82.7mn, or $0.91 a share, surged from
$25.8mn, or $0.27 a share in the prior-year period and were more
than twice the $0.39 a share consensus of Wall Street analysts'
forecasts.

after the Prudential Regulatory Authority voiced its concern over

Darag has agreed to buy Ergo Assicurazioni from Ergo Italia, the
run-off specialist announced today (19 July).
The acquisition of the non-life business is subject to
regulatory approval from domestic regulator the Italian Insurance

The terms for Darag's first Italian transaction were not
revealed.

Axis Capital's second quarter results will include a
