Major US retail and wholesale broker BB&T has pulled its
proposed buy-in to Willis-controlled Lloyd's broker Miller.
A Miller statement said BB&T was no longer pursuing the
transaction because of "unanticipated regulatory hurdles in
the US related to the investment".
The broker added that BB&T continues to be a key trading
partner of Miller in the London market.
BB&T's insurance division includes US wholesalers CRC
and Crump, as well as retailer McGriffs - one of Miller's

Towers Watson's corporate risk and broking division in Great

advocacy international leader with immediate effect.

Standard & Poor's (S&P) today (28 January) revised
the outlook on American International Group (AIG) from stable to
negative, while affirming its A+ financial strength rating for the

Liberty Specialty Markets has appointed David Saillen as head of

insurers' capital to absorb losses from Winter Storm Jonas,
which hit the US east coast earlier this month.
AM Best said the losses should be within companies' risk
