• RSA forced to digest £50mn McVitie's loss

    RSA has notified its reinsurers that it expects a gross loss
    from Storm Desmond of £85mn ($126mn), with the London-listed
    carrier set to be burnt by a £50mn line on a McVitie's
    biscuit factory, The Insurance Insider
    can reveal.
    Sources told this publication that the loss was projected to hit
    the £25mn excess £75mn layer of RSA's cat programme -
    the first layer to absorb UK exposures.
